What's included in my pass?
Your FlexiPass® includes bus transport on our national network, including selected dedicated sightseeing tours throughout the country, the Interislander ferry between Wellington and Picton, and two bonus all-inclusive tours. Meals and optional activities are not included in your pass price, but can be added as an extra cost at time of booking.
Please note some tours are currently unavailable.
FlexiPass® is only valid for travel on InterCity (IC) and InterCity Link (IL) bus services, Interislander (II) ferry services, plus selected GreatSights New Zealand (GS), Gray Line (GL) Fullers GreatSights Bay of Islands (GB) and awesomeNZ (AW) services.

How do I book travel on my FlexiPass?
When you purchase your pass you'll choose an access code (a word or phrase that functions a bit like a password). To book travel online:
- Log in with your booking reference and access code.
- Use the search function on your pass dashboard page to search and book travel.
- See full information, including how many hours and minutes the trip will take.
- Add travel to your cart and continue to the checkout, where you can select 'Pay using Rewards or a Pass' before confirming your travel.
- You can also book FlexiPass travel and tours over the phone by calling us free on 0800 222 146 (this number is for FlexiPass customers only) or by visiting any InterCity agent around the country. You'll need to tell us your booking reference and access code each time you book travel.
Currently the InterCity mobile app offers only limited support for pass customers. You may be able to view your bookings but we recommend managing your pass on our website for full functionality.
There is no physical component to your FlexiPass® - all you need to book and manage your travel is your booking reference and access code. To board the bus all you need is your name and booking reference (we'll send you this via email each time you book travel).
What if I've forgotten my log in details?

How do I change my access code?
Simply log in and click on the 'View & edit your details' button. You can change your access code here.
How long is my FlexiPass valid for?
Your pass is valid for 12 months from the date of activation, giving you plenty of time to stop where you want along the way. Activation occurs when you start booking travel using your pass. (Please note once a pass has been activated it cannot be refunded.)
Do top ups extend the life of my pass?
No, top-up hours are valid only within the existing life of the pass. Please note top-ups are non-refundable.
Can I refund or sell my pass?
You can cancel your FlexiPass and get a full refund if you haven't booked any travel on it, or if you cancel it more than 2 hours before your first booked trip. If you (or a previous owner) have already travelled on your pass, or if you cancel it within 2 hours of your first booked trip, your pass is non-refundable. Top ups are non-refundable. You can gift or sell your FlexiPass onto somebody else. Feel free to use our InterCity Facebook page to advertise your pass. Once it's sold, simply contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org to authorise the transfer to the new owner. You'll need to include your pass number and access code, and the name and contact details of the person you're transferring it to (phone and email). How early do I need to book and can I change my departure date?
Bus travel: You can book travel two hours before departure on all bus services, and can change bookings up to 2 hours before departure by calling us or logging in to Manage Bookings. During peak travel periods we recommend booking further in advance.
Ferry Travel: Bookings, changes and cancellations for Interislander ferry travel need to be made at least 26 hours before departure.
Bay of Islands Cruises: Bookings, changes and cancellations for Fullers GreatSights cruises need to be made at least 12 hours before departure.

Please note FlexiPass® is only valid for travel on InterCity bus services and selected GreatSights New Zealand (GS), Gray Line (GL), Fullers GreatSights (GB) and awesomeNZ (AW) services. Third party operators are not included, but you can book them separately. See full details.
As shown on the FlexiPass network map, the route between Wanaka and Tarras is run by a third party operator. This means if you are booking travel between Wanaka and Mount Cook, Wanaka and Tekapo or Wanaka and Christchurch this will not be included in your pass. See our terms and conditions for a list of services that are not included in your pass.
Can I use the same pass as my friend?
No, each traveller needs their own pass. For example two people can’t share one 30-hour pass – they need to buy two 15-hour passes.
If you want to buy two or more passes in one transaction, our contact centre team can set this up for you – just get in touch. If you choose this option you and your friend(s) must travel together on all the same dates and services. Otherwise you’ll need to buy the passes in separate transactions.
If you buy two or more passes in the same booking but later decide to travel separately, please contact us to split your pass. We charge a $50 processing fee for splitting passes.
Can I book a GOLD seat on my pass?
Yes, you can enjoy the comfort of our premium InterCity GOLD seats! On the search results page, simply select the service with the GOLD icon. The price for the GOLD upgrade will be shown in the Flexi fare column. Add the trip to your cart and pay for the upgrade at the checkout, just like you would pay for extras on a tour.
Does my pass include accommodation?
No, your FlexiPass® gives you complete freedom to choose where and when you want to stay. Visit our accommodation page to find out more and book accommodation.
