About Hamilton

New Zealand's largest inland city, Hamilton is located in the Waikato region just south of Auckland in the North Island. Hamilton and the Waikato Region are generally known for agriculture, but the city offers a diverse range of attractions, including the Hamilton Gardens, Waikato Museum and the Hamilton Zoo.

The Waikato River runs through the city centre, with a series of walkways running alongside. The main centre contains a great range of restaurants, cafes and bars as well as shopping and galleries. Fans of the cult classic 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' can make a pilgrimage to the statue of Riff-Raff, in honour of the show's creator, Hamilton local Richard O'Brien.
