Travel from Auckland to Wellington on a beautiful journey through the heart of New Zealand's North Island. Along the way, stop in the beautiful harbourside city of Tauranga, the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua and the stunning lakeside town of Taupo. Famous for its imposing mountain, Tauranga is a thriving city on the water's edge, perfect for both action and relaxation. Known for its geothermal activity and Maori culture, in Rotorua, you can visit thermal pools and participate in a traditional Maori hangi feast. Taupo is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, with activities such as fishing, boating, and skydiving available. From Taupo, it's a scenic drive to Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand, where you can explore the vibrant arts and culture scene, dine at excellent restaurants, and visit landmarks such as the Beehive and the Wellington Cable Car.
Your pass is divided into the following 'legs'. You can book travel in either direction (i.e. follow the itinerary from top to bottom, or bottom to top). You can also stop as often as you like along the way on each leg (for example, on the Taupo to Wellington leg you can book from Taupo to Turangi, Turangi to Levin and Levin to Wellington).
In Rotorua, experience geothermal activity on a massive scale with thermal valleys, geysers and boiling mud pools, and get a taste of Māori culture and adventure.
Lake Taupo in the Central North Island is picture-postcard pretty – it's also full of action-packed activities like bungy jumping, jet boating, fishing, skiing and hiking.
Make a stop in Wellington to sample its cafe culture and visit Te Papa, the national museum.
