Explore the South Island by train, bus and boat with the Alps and Fiords TravelPass. During your trip you’ll see the East and West Coasts, and cross over the Southern Alps on one of the Great Journeys of New Zealand – the TranzAlpine train.
Your pass is divided into the following 'legs'. You can book travel in either direction (i.e. follow the itinerary from top to bottom, or bottom to top). You can also stop as often as you like along the way on each leg (for example, on the Franz Josef to Queenstown leg you could book from Franz Josef to Makaroa, Makaroa to Wanaka and Wanaka to Queenstown).
IMPORTANT: When booking tours you must book to and from the stops shown. Your Milford Sound cruise is shown under 'extras' on the bus service. You must select and add the cruise to your cart in order to book it. You can also add other extras to your tour in the same way.
Your pass includes a trip on the TranzAlpine railway from Christchurch to Greymouth - one of the world's most scenic rail journeys, traversing the Southern Alps.
Continue your journey up the wild West Coast, stopping at Franz Josef where you can visit an ancient glacier.
The lakeside city of Queenstown is a scenic paradise beloved by thrillseekers.
Take a day tour from Queenstown to Milford Sound and see New Zealand's most famous attraction with a cruise on the awe-inspiringly beautiful fiord. Lunch is also included.
