Downgrade trip, no refund
I got a phone call from a guy who said they can't do the 45-minute experience due to the weather, but they can do the 25-minute shorter helicopter version, and provide me with a refund. I agreed. I haven't received a refund to this day.

Kia ora, Thank you for your patience while we reviewed your booking (Ref: KZDV25X5381781). We’d like to clarify the situation regarding the downgraded flight and the refund discussed on the day. Your original booking was made at a discounted rate of $249.50 per person. The alternative flight offered due to weather conditions—the Tasman Taster helicopter experience—has a standard retail price of $379 per person. When the alternative 25 min experience was discussed, the intention was to refund the difference only if the amount paid exceeded the cost of the alternative flight. In this case, as the amount you paid ($249.50) was significantly less than the price of the Tasman Taster flight ($379), there was no price difference available to refund. We acknowledge that this was not clearly explained at the time, which understandably led to confusion, and we apologize for that lack of clarity. We hope this clears things up, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to discuss this further or if we can assist with a future booking. Extremely Frustrating Experience & Bad Comm
I had a very disappointing experience with this operator. I arrived at the airport expecting a helicopter & ski plane flight as booked, only to be told that I would be flying in a ski plane instead. They insisted the route was the same and kept emphasizing that I had paid a lower price, which felt dismissive and frustrating. They explained that the switch was due to a lack of passengers for the helicopter, which seemed like an unreasonable reason for changing my flight, especially since I had tried to book the experience online earlier for my friend (another one slot), and it showed that the slots were fully booked. Naturally, I assumed there were enough passengers to proceed with the helicopter as planned. Again, they did not address this concern and issue. So, I rescheduled for the next day after a staff member assured me that a confirmed helicopter and ski plane flight was scheduled for 10:30 am—though they warned that it would still depend on the weather. However, the following day, I received an email saying only the helicopter would be flying due to poor weather. I couldn’t understand how the helicopter could fly in those conditions but the ski plane couldn’t—it just didn’t make sense. Since I had paid for a combo experience and felt that the operator was not delivering on what was promised, I cancelled my booking due to bad weather and request a refund. Overall, this experience felt confusing and inconsistent (somewhat scam). Clear communication and a smoother refund process would go a long way in making customers feel valued.

To clarify, our ski plane and helicopter have different weather restrictions, primarily due to wind conditions and landing requirements. The ski plane needs quite specific weather and snow conditions to land safely, whereas the helicopter has more flexibility in varying conditions. This is why one aircraft may be able to operate while the other cannot. Additionally, we do operate with minimum numbers in mind, as we are conscious of sustainability and aim to reduce unnecessary environmental impact where possible. We understand this may have been frustrating, and we apologize if our communication around this wasn’t clear.
