About Whitianga

Whitianga is a small town on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula. It sits in attractive Mercury Bay and is a great spot for New Zealand holidays, having sheltered beaches, good fishing and snorkelling and great conditions for sailing and boating. Beautiful Cathedral Cove (made famous by the Narnia movies) is nearby and there are plenty of walking and hiking opportunities.

Whitianga is an ideal base for exploring the Coromandel - take the Whitianga ferry to Cooks Beach and neighbouring Hahei, visit Hot Water Beach and dig yourself a warm bath in the sand, or soak in comfort at the Lost Springs. If you visit in September, feast on local produce at the Whitianga Scallop Festival while enjoying live music and a great atmosphere.
