The road to Milford Sound will be closed from 23 May for up to two weeks due to closure of the Homer Tunnel for safety works.
During this time we recommend the Dart River Wilderness Jet Safari as a great alternative to Milford Sound.

Milford Sound receives and average of 182 days of rain every year making it one of the wettest places in New Zealand. The rain creates many impressive waterfalls and is flanked by lush rain forests clinging precariously to the cliffs, some rising 1,200 metres or more from the sea.

Dolphins are regularly spotted playing in the wake of the large catamarans as they cruise to the head of the fiord and the Tasman Sea and seals and penguins are also resident in waters around Milford Sound.

Following the cruise, you'll rejoin your driver and return to Queenstown by the early evening.
