Blast through narrow canyons, and speed over the crystal clear waters of the upper Waikato River. Experience the thrill and manoeuvrability of this impressive watercraft as your jet boat negotiates tight spins and takes on the Nga Awa Purua Rapids with full V8 power and aggression; surfing the pressure waves and ripping up and down the white water.

The scenery on the river is spectacular and there is ample time to enjoy your amazing surrounds while learning about the wildlife and history of the area.

Rapids Jet is set in the beautiful Aratiatia Scenic Reserve just 15 minutes drive north of Taupo and 50 minutes south of Rotorua and is guaranteed to get the blood pumping.

Restrictions

  • Minimum age: 5

  • Child ages are 5-15 years inclusive

    A minimum height of 1 metre applies and all children must be accompanied by a fare paying adult

    Must wear footwear:(This is a requirement on the boat) Sandals, jandals, flip flops, thongs, sneakers, trainers

Notes

  • Accessibility: Please note there are 25 steps down to our jetty to board the boat.

    Minimum Numbers:

    • Discounted bookings are confirmed with 6 or more people.
    • Full-price bookings are confirmed with 4 or more.
    • Smaller bookings will be waitlisted until minimum numbers are met.

    Were located just 5km (approx. 15 minutes drive) north of Taup, or 75km (approx. 50 minutes drive) south of Rotorua via State Highway 5.

Our driver was Taylah and she was exceptional. Confident, skillful, informative and very personable. The ride on the river was fantastic... a good length of time and very exciting. A bonus was seeing areas where river scenes from movies such as The Hobbit were filmed. This trip is worth every cent...ask for Taylah
