As Queenstown's trail specialists, we'll help you choose the best ride for your experience level, the weather, and the time you have available. Whether you're looking for a relaxed lakeside ride or a full-day adventure, our team will point you in the right direction.
When you collect your e-bike from our central Queenstown shop, we'll show you everything you need to know before you head out. You'll also receive a detailed Queenstown Trails map, local riding tips, and route recommendations to help you get the most from your day.
Top picks include: Frankton Track, Kelvin Heights Peninsula, and the Hugo Tunnel Loop Track.
Planning to ride to Arrowtown and back? Please note this is a challenging 60–72 km loop with plenty of hills. Most riders take 6–8 hours to complete it. For a more enjoyable experience, we recommend booking our Arrowtown to Queenstown self-guided ride, which includes a one-way shuttle to Arrowtown in the morning.
Please note: riders must be 140cm+ tall to ride an e-bike.

Great Day out
Wow a must do , electric bikes are the way forward. We had a fabulous day with an easy ride that would have been hard on a normal bike. Don’t think about it book it , this company is amazing and so welcoming and helpful. Thank you

Not the best e-bike
This is the third time I’ve hired an e-bike in Queenstown, and it was the least favourable experience. The bike they have us didn’t have much battery boost and felt ‘e’ from the ‘e-bike’ was missing. The service also wasn’t the friendliest because they didn’t cater much to our required size - it was like “grab the bike and get out of here” kind of vibe. I’d use a different shop next time.

Hi, thanks for your feedback and we’re sorry your experience wasn’t the best. We did provide a bike suited to your height, adjusted it for you, and explained the trail before you left. It was a particularly busy time, so we apologise if things felt a bit rushed. Our e-bikes are pedal-assist, but we appreciate your comments and will use them to improve.

Great day on ebikes
Nice bikes with efficient , friendly staff. We have hired bikes here before and will do so again as Queenstown has almost endless great rides to explore.

Best ride
We have hired with Around The Basin a few times, we have no need to go elsewhere. The bikes are great, easy to use. The staff are really helpful & provide all the info you need to have a good day out. This time we rode the Hugo Tunnel trail, the best ride we have ever done. We’ll be back.
