Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas is an extraordinary adventure for anyone. With much of the reef's vibrant colours and marine life visible just a few meters below the water's surface, snorkeling with Calypso provides an opportunity for swimmers of all skill levels to explore this diverse ecosystem.
Glide above lush, colourful coral gardens bustling with life, from adorable and playful clownfish to the elegant beauty of the green turtle. You will have the chance to encounter a variety of species, including giant clams, stingrays, Maori wrasse, cod, and vibrant parrotfish, as you visit Opal Reef with Calypso.
The 21-meter vessel boasts comfortable daybed-style seating, spacious decks, and a professional, experienced crew, ensuring a distinctive and personalized Great Barrier Reef experience.
Approximate Itinerary (subject to change depending on conditions)
- 7:00am to 8:20am Check In – Free parking is available at Crystalbrook Marina Port Douglas
- 8:20am to 8:45am Boarding Commences – At 8:20am at the Crystalbrook Marina, Port Douglas.
- 8.45am to 10:10am Cruise Time – It is time to sit back and relax while we travel to our first site.
- 10:20am to 11:15am First Snorkelling Site and morning tea
- 11:50am to 1:30pm Second Snorkelling Site and lunch
- 1:45pm to 2:45pm Third Snorkelling Site and afternoon tea
- 2:45pm to 4:15pm Cruise Home
- 4.15pm (approximately) Arrive back at Crystalbrook Marina Port Douglas

Terrific
The Staff were great, willing to talk and interact. We’re very professional in their approach to safety and passenger numbers at all times. We’re informative and knowledgeable. The catamaran was clean, spacious and had nice clean amenities. The times given to snorkel and explore each site was more then sufficient. Food was great with a variety of cold meats and salads supplied in a mini buffet. All up it was a terrific experience. I highly recommend using Calypso for your Barrier Reef experience.

Great Barrier Reef
We loved this tour. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. We had three amazing spots that we snorkelled at and each were incredible. This is a must do excursion.

Nice day on the reef
The boat is a mix of snorkelers and divers despite the Snorkelers only written in the Book Me description. However, with a majority of snorkelers we go on snorkelers spots and not the opposite so it was not an issue. We were 28 + 5/6 crew members on the boat, so we had space and were not too much. 3 spots on the reef: first one, awful, no visibility at all, a lot of rip, a bit dangerous. Someone asked for help and they took so much time to come and help him! 2nd and 3rd spot were really nice, with interesting explanations from 2 members of the crew. Overall a good day and experience. Maybe a part of the crew could be challenged a little bit to make a safer and nicer experience.

Great day out
Fantastic day out. Weather was great , water calm. Stopped at 3 sites where the coral was colorful and plenty of fish. Staff and food were great. Thanks

Excellent !
All the tour was great! The 3 stop were perfect! The creo was helpfull and kind. Always there to help! I do recomend this trip. We did it with all The family (6 adults).
