Experience one of Cairns' most exceptional and exclusive Great Barrier Reef tours with Dreamtime Snorkel. Join Indigenous Cultural Guides on a day trip to two breathtaking outer Great Barrier Reef locations, immersing yourself in the Dreamtime of this natural wonder. The reef sites you'll visit could be Milln, Flynn, Hastings, Saxon, Norman, or Thetford Reef.
Dive into up to 5 hours of adventure at the Outer Great Barrier Reef, where you can explore two fantastic coral reef spots. Swim in the crystal-clear reef waters and meet fascinating marine creatures and colorful coral gardens. Your package includes snorkeling gear, lycra suits and wetsuit rentals. If you wish you can add on a guided snorkel tour and a chance to feed the fish led by marine experts, and options for both certified and introductory scuba diving.
Get a taste of the past as cultural guides share the Dreamtime tales of the local people, giving you a richer understanding of the diverse ecosystems that make up the Great Barrier Reef.
When you've worked up an appetite, relish a delicious cold buffet lunch with seafood served onboard, along with complimentary morning and afternoon tea.

Itinerary
- 8:15am - Boarding commences at our Dreamtime desk in the Reef Fleet Terminal Building
- 9:00am - Depart Marlin Jetty Cairns
- 10:30am - Our in water activities commence at the Outer Great Barrier Reef
- Approx 12:30pm - Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch
- 3:30pm - Depart the Reef and enjoy afternoon tea whilst interacting with the Indigenous Sea Rangers on board
- 5:00pm - Arrive back in Cairns

Best snorkeling in Cairns
Absolutely fabulous day on the reef. Even though the weather wasn't perfect the snorkeling and diving was pristine and all of the crew were amazing. Out of all the reef experiences we have done this one tops all of them. Would highly recommend dreamtime to anyone.

GBR Snorkel
Great trip. Saw whales, white tip reef shark and Napoleon Wrasse. Went to Normand Reff and stayed in 1 spot which was fine as there was plenty to see. Interesting cultural display as well

It was an incredible experience. A big thank you to the whole crew, especially Jacob to have filled the boart with energy and happiness. Everything was perfect: the indigenous culture sharing moments, the food, the equipment, the safety measures, and the amazing spots to snorkel. I would definitely recommend this company over the others for all of this added value. Just a side note: it was difficult to understand some parts because of the disturbance of the microphone.

Worst Experience Ever — Unsafe, Unfair, Uncaring
We joined the tour with high hopes, but it turned out to be an absolute disaster. Despite informing the company in advance that I was 8 months pregnant and traveling with a 4-year-old child, the staff gave us false reassurance that everything would be “fine.” On the day of the tour, the sea was extremely rough with strong winds and waves. We couldn’t even get into the water, yet were stuck on a rocking boat for hours, while most of the staff showed no concern for our safety or wellbeing. We spent over AUD $550 for four people—my husband, my sister (who cannot swim), my child, and myself. None of us were able to snorkel at all. It was completely irresponsible of the company to proceed under such dangerous conditions, especially knowing we had a pregnant woman and small child on board. After the tour, I sent a detailed complaint. The company refused a full refund and offered only $67.50 (a 50% refund just for myself). Their excuse? That the boat went out, so “the service was delivered.” This is beyond unacceptable. This is not about rain or visibility. It was about physical safety. And when we raised serious concerns, we were ignored. I urge others—especially families with children or pregnant women—to avoid this company at all costs. They prioritize profit over people and refuse accountability when things go wrong.

The best experience and crew ever!
The experience was incredible! The staff has a unique welcome, from start to the end. Welcoming, friendly and very well prepared and coordinated. They really pay attention to details and don't let anyone out of their sight. You will be in safe hands! They offer activities for everyone, experienced swimmers and those who cannot swim. Moreover, the sailing times are never dead time, there are always presentations by the staff if you want to follow them. There are plenty of materials provided (included in the price): snorkeling suit, snorkel, mask, fins, life jacket as well as other buoyant supports. Excellent tea, water, biscuits and lunch! Highly recommended!
