The city almost surrounds the Porirua Harbour.  The name “Porirua” derives from the Maori language and is possibly a variant of “Pari-rua”, meaning two tides. This could possibly be a reference to the two arms of the Porirua Harbour.

Porirua’s Pirates Cove is a fun filled 18 hole miniature golf course for you and your family. Located on Wineera Drive, Pirates Cove contains waterfalls, bridges and caves for you to putt your way to victory.
